1984
The 1984 Adelaide Festival was held from Thursday, March 1 to Sunday, March 18, led by Artistic Director Anthony Steel.
After the Artistic Director and Board of Governors parted company, Steel took over responsibility for the 1984 program at short notice.
Festival highlights included Vladimir Ashkenazy leading London’s distinguished Philharmonia Orchestra on its first visit to Australia performing Beethoven’s nine symphonies and five piano concertos presented as a complete cycle, Theatre Tenkei Genijyo, the Pointer Sisters and the Polish Chamber Orchestra.
